Battery information
From Motorboards
The following information is based on information posted at the RothMotors.com website. Specifications, schematics, and building instructions are here. Charging information is located on the charger wiki page.
Road vibration caused by the relatively small 5" solid polyurethane wheels can not only cause electronic components to disconnect and fail, it can cause the battery malfunction internally. The 1500X with the stock front suspension has a rough ride that is so hard on the batteries that Roth would not warranty batteries unless the customer also purchased a suspension upgrade kit.

The 2000X Motorboard with NiMH battery pack.
- 14.4 V 7AH, 12-cell NiMH Battery Pack
- Weight 5 pounds
- Power: about 20 amps
If you have an existing battery pack, and would like it refurbished, you can contact a local NiMH battery supplier, and they should be able to break apart your dead pack and install new NiMH cells into the pack. The cells are industry-standard D-size 1.2V NiMH cells. The stock pack had 8ah capacity cells, but you may install higher capacity cells and they will work as well. The battery charger that came with your 2000X Motorboard will also charge the refurbished pack.
If you are in Southern California, contact www.batterystore.com, they are familiar with Motorboard packs and have done refurbs before.
18.5V Lithium Polymer 8Ah Battery Pack
motorboardmods.com sells "This lithium battery is a fantastic upgrade to your 2000X. It provides 18V, at 8Ah (the same as the 2000XR+), but weighs only 2 pounds! It requires a specific lithium polymer battery charger (sold here). The battery will plug easily into your existing 2000X socket. Custom NiMH battery pack
stefanrahovean on ebay writes "As most of you know by now, I've been customizing batteries and Motorboards for quite some time. This year though, since the economy is in the gutter, I decided to give you the option to customize your own battery following my advice, saving you about $50 (my profit/battery sold). I have to warn you that if you don't have the confidence that you can do it, you're better of buying a battery from me. For $19.99 I will give you all the details necessary to put together your battery. All you need is a soldering tool, dc wires, some rubber and duct tape for isolation. I will also give you my supplier's website for you to buy the battery cells. This can take some work but it will save you $50. As for the battery itself, it will give you double the range and a small, but noticeable increase in speed."
"It comes with 14000mah which is twice as much the original battery offers. The voltage is the same (14.4 volts) therefore, you don't have to purchase a different charger. It is very easy to install and you'll be out riding in no-time. Please let me know if you have any other questions regarding this product. Once again, the battery costs $249 if you want to purchase it already customized by me. If on the other hand, you think you are capable to put together your own battery pack, I will give you all the insights for the price of $19.99 paid directly via PayPal"
